Five Effortless Summer Tablescapes
Rinse and repeat. Summer '26, here we go...
High on my list of what makes summer summer are meals shared around the table at home. Casual lunches thrown together, as you hop out of the pool, wring out your hair and throw on an oversized button down, making your way into the kitchen to prepare whatever you’ve picked up at the market or farmstand that morning.
I usually keep things simple: sliced mozzarella layered with plump tomatoes and peaches, finished with basil and my favorite balsamic on earth — perfectly thick and syrupy. I’ll pick up a few prepared salads from Round Swamp and plate them in pretty ceramic dishes, toast a baguette and set it on the table with creamy salted butter, perhaps a bowl of freshly rinsed radishes alongside. Ice cold rosé and bowls of ice, that melt their way into the afternoon as we sit around the table. A simple scoop of ice cream and a Tate’s chocolate chip cookie for dessert before migrating elsewhere, maybe to the beach or upstairs to bed for a little nap in the cool A/C.
Entertaining at home on summer evenings is a good moment to slow down. Set a menu and the table with some intention. Dress up a little, or don’t. Show your friends care and love with the thought you put into the evening, amber candlelight glowing and oldies humming in the background in symphony with the crickets. The fleeting moments of summer slip away so quickly but here we are, at the very, very beginning. So much to look forward to as these months unfold.
Here are five summer tablescapes I put together that will set the mood for stylish lunches and dinners in the garden. They’re meant to be easy to throw together and kept on repeat all summer long. I hope you’ll like them.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend,
